Obtaining a Datalog (OBD II):

IMPORTANT: We do not accept several datalogs per email, please make ONE decent sized log (15-20 mins). We prefer the datalog to encompass all stages of driving - cold start, warm up, part throttle driving, and wide open (as long as fuel/etc is safe). If this is a vehicle that uses a MAF sensor, MAF Hz MUST be scanning in the table during your log. If the datalog is based off of a file we have sent you, please name the datalog accordingly! i.e. if the tune is called "1.bin", name the datalog "datalog 1".

Scanning

In order to start a scan, you must close the write/read dialog box if it is open in the VCM Editor. The editor itself can remain open. Likewise, if you need to read/flash the vehicle, you must be disconnected from the scanner. To begin a scan, open VCM Scanner. Connect the interface to the laptop & OBDII port and either start the vehicle or just leave the key forward. Click the lightning bolt all the way to the left to connect the scanner to the vehicle. To begin datalogging, click the 'play' button.

When scanning your vehicle, we will ask you to use a certain configuration file (which scans certain parameters we like to observe). We usually include this in our email, otherwise you can do it yourself. Generally we use the MAF + Hz.cfg file. Before connecting to the vehicle, click the open folder, and then open said configuration file. That will ensure you are scanning the parameters we need to see. The 'save' button next to the folder does NOT save the datalog, it saves the config file. So if you are adding new parameters/sensors to scan and you want to save it, click that button, and give it a new name.

When you finish scanning, press the stop button (square next to the triangle). Then select Scan, Save Data As, and save it in a folder where you can access it. From there you can email it to us, or save it for future review.
